What Is CORE?

Christian Out Reach Effort, CORE, is the service ministry of St. Daniel the Prophet Parish, and its mission is to respond to the directive in Matthew 25: 35-40.

"For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me. Then the righteous will answer him and say, Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? When did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? When did we see you ill or in prison and visit you? And the king will say to them in reply, Amen I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me."

CORE is coordinated by a committee of parishioners working under the direction of the Pastor to provide the parish with opportunities to put our faith into action through service. The committee is composed of the CORE ministry coordinators, volunteers, and any other parishioners interested in serving on the committee. CORE is comprised of 10 separate service ministries and presently provides support to 8 community organizations from its funds.

The Christian Out Reach Effort, CORE, ministry group meets monthly to:

• oversee the ministries,
• to evaluate new materials and programs to respond to the needs of the poor in our community,
• to evaluate educational materials and programs for the parish concerning the needs of the poor, unborn, and vulnerable,
• and to provide the opportunity for fellowship, spiritual growth and awareness, support, and the exchange of ideas among the ministry coordinators and volunteers.

The CORE ministry group is always open to new ideas to respond to our call to service and welcomes any interested parishioner(s) to join in the efforts and/or attend their monthly meeting. The CORE logo is used in the parish bulletin to designate ministries, programs, and information coming from the CORE ministry.
