Hearts Against Hunger - A Success!
Thanks go out to all who were able to contribute to our recent food collection for the People's Resource Center. You provided an amazing 302 bags of food! Volunteers took the food to the PRC where it was immediately put into distribution. Melissa Travis, PRC Director of Food Services stated: "Once again St. Daniel Parish has overwhelmed the People's Resource Center with your generosity. The food you brought will go a long way
toward feeding the more than 500 families we see each week. Thank you for your constant help and support."
Thank you,

Impact of the 40 Days for Life Campaign
The Rest of the Story
Do you wonder what impact the 40 Days for Life Campaign had? They report that:
- 212 cities in 45 states, 5 Canadian provinces, and Denmark participated in the largest and longest coordinated pro-life mobilization in history.
- Tens of thousands of faithful participants were mobilized into peaceful and effective action.
- More than 580 babies were spared from abortion.
- 8 clinic workers quit their jobs -- including Abby Johnson, the Planned Parenthood director who experienced a profound conversion and now prays outside her former workplace.
- Two more abortion facilities CLOSED DOWN.
Locally twelve of our parishioners joined the 1300 faithful that prayed at the Glen Ellyn Clinic. Many others have joined with them in prayer at home. The local coordinators report that two babies were saved.
Never underestimate the power of prayer. Thank you all.

Postcard Campaign opposing the Freedom of Choice Act
In January, St Daniel the Prophet Parish joined parishes through out the country in signing postcards in opposition to a bill in Congress called the "Freedom of Choice Act," or FOCA. FOCA would create a "fundamental right" to abortion that government could not limit but would be required to fund and support. It would overturn a broad range of pro-life policies currently allowed under the Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade abortion decision: laws protecting parental involvement in an underage daughter's abortion decision, laws upholding conscience rights, limits on abortion funding, bans on partial-birth abortion. The campaign was initiated due to the concern that FOCA itself could become law or that the policies it represents could become law one step at a time. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops felt it was important that we communicate to our legislators where we stand on the issue.
The parishioners of St. Daniel sent over 1000 postcards to Washington, 370 to each of our senators and our representative. Some parishes within the diocese had a problem with postcards being delivered to the sender not to Washington. Although we were concerned that it might be an issue, our parish did not have this problem. The United States Catholic Conference of Bishops reports that nationwide, over 34 million postcards to Congress were distributed during this campaign against the introduction of the so-called "Freedom of Choice Act" (FOCA) or similar legislation. Thank you to all who participated.
